Gloucestershire Golf Captains President Derek Godwin hosted an excellent days golf at his home course Lansdown on Friday 19 May 2017. The weather held fine and although showers were forecast no-one got wet. The course was in excellent condition and Derek was justifiably proud of the work Lansdown greenstaff have done to get the course in such fine order.
Paul McGuinness (Lydney GC), who was playing in the third group starting on the par three 10th hole, began his round with a very impressive hole-in-one, the third in his golfing career.
This was also the nearest the pin hole on the front nine so Paul picked up a prize for nearest the pin and a sleeve of balls for the hole in one.
Paul very generously treated the whole field to a drop of scotch.
Mike Burns (Filton GC) won the nearest the pin prize on hole 5 with an excellent shot to within four feet of the pin.
The main event of the day, The President's Salver, was won by the Henbury/Chipping Sodbury team, from left to right, Eric Millard (Chipping Sodbury), Steve Sheppard (Henbury), President Derek Godwin, Geoff Lowe (Henbury) and Geoff Anderson (Henbury), with a fine score of 97 points.

Thanks to everyone at Lansdown for an excellent day, lovely golf course and excellent food.
NB. For those of you who noticed on the start sheet the gremlin that for some time has referred to a Painswick start sheet ... I have found the little devil and got rid of him ,,, I hope!!!
