I am considerably honoured and privileged to be again asked to Captain our Association for the upcoming golfing season.
For obvious reasons 2020 was a bit of a non-event. However, towards the end of the season we were able to get some matches played. We managed to scrape a draw against The South West Secretaries at Forest Hills but lost away to Worcestershire and Cornwall. These were played under strict Covid regulations so limited opportunities to socialise with the players other than our immediate opponents.
Thanks to The Carlyon Bay Hotel Management and the organisational skills of my Vice-Captain Dereck, a limited number of us were able to enjoy an excellent Ladies weekend in October. I sincerely hope that more of you will be able to attend this year.
Our annual dinner has been sensibly rescheduled to Friday 1st October and it would be great to see as many members as possible attend this traditional and enjoyable evening.
I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at our internal events this year and to welcoming you to my Captain’s Day at Cotswold Hills on Wednesday 21st July.
This season we will again endeavour to get as many of you as possible to play in our inter-county matches. So, if you have declared your availability and get the call that you have been selected in a match day, then I do hope that you accept it and enjoy the experience.
Until we meet on the fairways, Sam Collins Captain 2021
