Gloucestershire Golf Captains

The Gloucestershire Golf Captains met up at Stinchcombe Hill GC and looked forward to a good match against Warwickhire Golf Captains.

The weather was cloudy but warm and the course was presented in good condition although the greens had been Hollow tined which made the putting somewhat difficult. Our thanks go to the green staff for their hard work.

The match secretaries read out the pairings during a light lunch.

​

I was paired with Graham Morrice and played against Warwickhire Captain Ian and his partner David. We had a very close match but sadly lost 1 down on the last hole.

​

President Mike Slatter and Neil Pirie also lost 1 down followed by Nick Broady and Neil Casling losing 3-2.

​

John Dymock and partner Clive Fluck went down 4-3 and they were followed in by Vice-Captain Eric Millard and Chris Dooley who had a very good game and won 3-2.

​

Brendan Nunan and partner Barry Preece sadly lost 1 down but were followed by Brian Trendell and Jo Betty winning 2 up.

​

Our last pairing of Peter House and Phil Mogg also sadly lost 2-1.

​

Overall result - Match Lost 2 - 6    Trophy Won by Warwickshire Golf Captains.

We then sat down to a very enjoyable Steak Pie and Veg followed by Crumble and Custard. I passed on our thanks to the members and management of Stinchcombe Hill GC for facilitating our event.

​

Both Captains did the formal speeches and, as Warwickshire won the match, the new trophy introduced this year was presented to Warwickshire Captain Ian.
