The Gloucestershire Golf Captains met up at Henbury GC, with the objective to win the newly designed double shielded Inter County Captains Trophy.

 

The weather was cloudy and breezy but warm. The course was presented in very good condition and our thanks go to the green staff.

SW Coast’s match secretary and our match secretary John Cumming read out the pairings.

​

Ed Kitchen from B & C and I were paired with SWC Captain Viv and his playing partner Tony Dubbs. We had a very close match with some great golf being played by both teams. Ed and I managed to win 1 up.

​

President Mike Slatter and Steve Yemm lost 2-1, then Eric Millard and Mike Holder came in winning 1 up.

​

John Cumming and partner Phil Porter had a good result winning 4-3 but then sadly Dereck Buttler & Ian Watkins lost 5 & 4.

​

Chris Dooley and Neil Casling won 3-2 followed by Stuart Revell and Colin Stokes winning 2-1.

​

Our last pairing of Ian Hughes and Ross Antonczyk lost 5-4.

​

Overall result - Match Won 5 - 3.    Trophy Won by GGC. 

​

We then sat down to a very enjoyable meal of Sausage and Mash with Peas and Onion Gravy followed by Sticky Toffee pudding. I passed on our thanks to the members and management for facilitating our event.

​

Both Captains did the formal speeches and as GGC won the match, the trophy was presented to me by SWC Captain Viv.
