GCMA match secretary Karen eventually managed to field a side which included Chipping Sodbury General manager Ryan and (after a phone call and a hurried journey) Rob Tippins making up the team of ten.

John Keenaghan and his team presented the course beautifully for the annual battle against the GCMA; after a light lunch and the declaration of the pairings we started the battle.

​

Game 1 was myself paired with Sodbury stalwart Ross against GCMA captain Malcome and “Penner” Mike Pennington we had a super game with Ross chipping in to seal the game and give us a 4&3 victory (1 up).

​

Game 2  was President Rex paired with Keith from Cotswold Edge versus Ian and Bob from GCMA unfortunately despite receiving a number of shots they went down to a 1 down loss (all square).

​

Game 3 was between ex professional Caroline and Lydney stalwart John up against Sodbury’s Tony and Mike who certainly didn’t hold back dishing out a 5&4 thumping (1 up).

Game 4 Match Manager John and Cleeve Hills Richard  had a very difficult tussle taking on GCMA match secretary Karen and Rob unfortunately the outcome saw GCMA inflicting a defeat with us losing 1 down (all square)

Game 5 as usual the result of the match depended on the last game with Sodbury Chairman Peter and Tracy Parks Phil taking on CS General manager Ryan and his partner Rob unfortunately Ryan did not play ball and defeated his boss by 2 &1 thus losing the whole match by 3 games to 2.

 

Following a few drinks to drown our sorrows, we sat down to a super meal of roast pork followed by sticky toffee pudding, (not good for the waistline).
