Another day when The Gloucestershire Captains dodged the weather to play in the dry, and enjoy a well presented course at The Players.
The golf was very mixed with scores from the higher teens into the forties. Our two winners for the main bogey competition were within a shot of each other with Eddie Robinson just getting the one hole up -8 on Phil Payne -7 giving Phil the winning Stableford score of 47 points. Both excellent rounds with Phil ruing the water on the fifteenth where he lost the hole.
As always we are thankful to Tony and Gerry for organising and running the day, it’s no mean feat sorting the cards in a double comp and having the prize giving within a few minutes of the last cards.
The winners were as follows...
1st Bogey Prize and winner of the Coronation Salver - Eddie Robinson -8 (Lbk)
2nd Bogey Prize - Stuart Revell -6 (Bri)
3rd Bogey Prize - Peter Ball (CS)
4th Bogey Prize - Tony Duffy (Fil)
A stableford competition was run alongside the main event, the winners were ...
1st Stableford - Phil Payne (Pai) 47 points
2nd Stableford - Bill Hill (Shire)
3rd Stableford - Shaun Pearce (CS)
4th Stableford - Alistair Fraser-Holland (Lyd)
Nearest the Pin on 4 - Don Jones (FoD)
Nearest the Pin on 16 - John Rosser (Minch)
Eddie Robinson thanked all for the day, the food and the course. He also thanked Gloucestershire Golf Captains for the camaraderie that is always present at these events and has been a great help to him.
Another great day, thanks to all.
