Hon Secretary's Report

 

Well … here we are, at the start of a new season and I trust that you are all remaining safe and well during this pesky pandemic. No surprise that most are champing at the bit to getting back on our lush fairways and taking in some of that Gloucestersire fresh air!

 

The 2021 active membership is currently at 256. Most GGU affilated clubs decided to extend their Captain's term through to 2021 and this year we have 4 New Captains join our ranks along with 10 Past Captains. I know that they will be made feel at home when we eventually get back to normal play!

 

Our Website has been updated and provides current news on any relevant topics along with Membership and Fixture information. We have made a specific effort to provide transparency wherever possible.

• We would also like to keep the feed of News Items flowing therefore if you have anything significant/deemed worth sharing then please get in touch and we will consider for publication.

 

On-line banking has been well supported unfortunately the use of a card reading facility at our events was deemed unfeasible. We will continue to accept cheque or cash for fees and clothing however use of BACS (Faster Payment) will be promoted to help keep the handling of cash to a minimum.

 

​There is always the need for Captains to act as club focal points and help in the distribution of forms & communication to GGC members who are unable to access email or internet. I will be reviewing the list of current focal points for this year and may ask for further volunteers should the need arise.

 

The GGC Committee will continue to hold regular reviews of the pandemic status in line with Government, England Golf and Gloucestershire Golf Union directives & recommendations.

We will then ensure onward communication to the GGC membership.

I will finish by welcoming all New Captains and Members to our Association and hope that we get back to normal Club/GGC golfing activities soon.

In the meantime stay fit, safe & healthy and I look forward to seeing you at some point this year!
