Gloucestershire Golf Captains VS Devonshire Golf Captains.

Thursday the 15th of August saw us return to Lansdown Golf Club for our match against the “on Tour “ Devonshire Golf Captains.

Once again the Weather was very kind although the wind did ensure a degree of difficulty on the course.

After a warm welcome from the Lansdown Captain Mike Burt and a light lunch, battle commenced.

Our County President and myself playing against the Devonshire Captain Brian Rice and his playing partner Neil. We had a fantastic afternoon with our 4-Ball embracing all that I love about the game of golf. Great Banter, some excellent golf ( primarily from our guests ) and all played in a fantastic spirit. Apart from our match result, golf as it should be !!

The course at Lansdown was presented in an excellent manner and the evening carvery meal was first class. Our thanks were passed to the Club on both aspects.

In terms of the result the Devon boys fell into the “ Cunning Plan “ of our Match Organiser who loaded our team at the middle to the rear which enabled a 3 Down situation to be retrieved. The last 5 pairs all winning to enable a home side victory 5-3.

Congratulations to all that played and many thanks to Keith Hanson our Match Manager for his Organisational skills.

Next year’s fixture against Devon is at Dartmouth Golf Club. A lovely course and one that no doubt will prove to be a popular choice of venue.

Best Regards

Paul Drinkwater.
